Thomas Tuchel axed by Chelsea
Chelsea have sacked manager Thomas Tuchel after less than two years in charge, following a poor start to the 2022/23 season.
The German coach was relieved of his duties on Wednesday morning, just hours after Chelsea's 1-0 defeat to Dinamo Zagreb in the Champions League.
Tuchel's departure comes as a surprise, given that he led Chelsea to the Champions League title in his first season in charge. However, the Blues have struggled for form this season, winning just three of their first six Premier League games.
Chelsea's new owners, led by Todd Boehly, are understood to have been unhappy with Tuchel's recent performances. The American consortium is said to have wanted a more attacking style of play, and they believe that Tuchel was not the right man to deliver that.
Tuchel's sacking is a major blow to Chelsea, who are now without a manager just weeks before the start of the new Premier League season. The Blues will now have to appoint a new coach quickly, and it is likely that they will be looking for someone with a more attacking philosophy.
